The Akai EWI5000 is an electronic wind instrument designed to give saxophonists, flautists, oboists, and brass players wireless freedom and over 3GB of SONiVOX-designed sounds. What sets it apart is 2.4GHz low-latency wireless audio transmission with included receiver, plus a rechargeable lithium-ion battery offering up to six hours of continuous play time. The white finish houses 13 touch-sensor note keys, eight precision dials for real-time parameter control, and an ultra-responsive mouthpiece with air-pressure and bite sensors for expressive dynamics. Multiple fingering modes accommodate different playing styles: flute, oboe, saxophone, and EVI mode for brass players. The instrument spans a seven-octave range via six mobile and two fixed octave rollers, with dedicated pitch-bend and ground plates for performance articulation. Connectivity includes USB-MIDI, five-pin DIN MIDI output, quarter-inch TRS line output, and eighth-inch headphone output. Eight precision dials control Filter, Reverb, Chorus, LFO, Breath Amount, Bite Amount, Semitone Tuning, and Fine Tuning in real time. The bundled EWI5000 Sound Editor software enables deep sound-library customisation on Mac or PC, storing edited patches directly to the instrument's onboard memory.
