The DW Performance Series 14 × 8 snare represents the California Custom Shop's approach to affordable professional drums. Built around a 1mm polished and rolled copper shell, this snare delivers focused attack and balanced response with darker tonality and complex overtone character. The polished finish suits both studio and stage work, whilst the Performance quarter-sized lugs and TruePitch tuning rods provide precision tensioning with minimal slippage during performance.

Construction centres on the 1mm copper shell, a material choice that yields warm, sustained resonance across the frequency spectrum. The snare incorporates DW's MAG throw-off mechanism paired with the 3P butt plate, enabling three distinct snare tension settings via a simple flip switch–essential for adapting between styles without removing the drum from the kit. Triple-flange hoops provide durability and consistent bearing edge contact, whilst the 14-inch diameter with 8-inch depth sits comfortably in most configurations from jazz to rock to electronic applications.
