Epiphone's Joe Bonamassa '59 Les Paul Custom recreates the blues guitarist's rare two–pickup vintage specimen in a production instrument. The original 1959 Gibson Les Paul Custom has long been a collector's prize; Bonamassa's particular example departed from the standard three–pickup setup, opting instead for a paired configuration that became the template here. Built on a all–mahogany body with aged multi–ply binding and finished in Antique Ebony, this limited–edition instrument combines authentic construction with modern–era reliability.
The neck employs a 1959 Rounded Medium C profile in mahogany, seated above a bound ebony fretboard carrying 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid block position markers. The multi–ply bound Kalamazoo–style headstock features the Custom Split Diamond inlay in mother of pearl and a Graph Tech® nut for tuning stability. Two Epiphone ProBucker™ Custom pickups run through independent volume and tone controls wired with CTS® potentiometers, while gold hardware includes Grover® Imperial™ tuners, a LockTone™ Tune–O–Matic™ bridge, and the Bigsby® B70 vibrato tailpiece. This combination delivers tonal range suitable across blues, rock, and jazz contexts.
The instrument ships with a hardshell case bearing custom Joe Bonamassa "Nerdville" graphics and includes a certificate of authenticity, marking this as both a playable instrument and a tangible connection to a documented piece of guitar history.
