The Epiphone Les Paul Custom in Amethyst Sparkle is a solidbody electric guitar built to the original 1954 design specifications, developed in partnership with Gibson Custom. Les Paul himself requested the Custom model as a refined alternative to the standard Les Paul, with aesthetics he likened to formal evening wear. The solid mahogany body paired with a maple top delivers tonal balance-the mahogany supplies warmth and midrange presence, while the maple cap adds brightness and attack. Multi-ply binding edges both the top and back, and the instrument ships with a black hardshell case.Construction centres on a one-piece mahogany neck with a Modern Medium C profile, joined to the body via a long neck tenon for stability and sustain. The bound ebony fretboard carries 22 medium jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl block inlays. Electronics run hand-wired Gibson USA 490R (neck) and 498T (bridge) humbuckers through CTS controls, Mallory capacitors, and Switchcraft switching. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone Stop Bar lock strings at both ends for rock-solid intonation. Grover Rotomatic tuners and a Graph Tech nut round out hardware, while the five-ply bound headstock carries the classic Gibson split diamond inlay and Epiphone logo.
