The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a meticulously accurate take on the designs that reshaped electric guitar history. Built with period-correct bodies, necks, hardware and finishes, and fitted with carefully voiced, year-specific pickups, each model captures the sound, feel and detail of authentic Fender craftsmanship.
The Telecaster® Custom marked one of Fender's earliest moves into humbucking territory. Introduced in the 1970s, it paired a Wide Range humbucker in the neck with a traditional Tele® single-coil bridge pickup, along with distinctive dual volume and tone controls and a 3-way toggle mounted on an extended pickguard. The American Vintage II 1977 Telecaster Custom faithfully recreates this important era in Fender's evolution.
A '77 “C”-shaped hard rock maple neck with a 7.25" radius fingerboard and vintage tall frets delivers authentic late-'70s feel, while the resurrected CuNiFe magnets in the Wide Range humbucker restore the original pickup response and character. Finished with a 6-saddle Tele® bridge with slotted steel barrel saddles, “F”-stamped tuners, a bullet-style truss rod and a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt™, this Telecaster Custom captures the unmistakable tone and design of the original. A vintage-style black case with orange interior completes the package.
