The Fender Custom Shop '68 Stratocaster Deluxe Closet Classic Maple revives the spirit of the late 1960s Stratocaster, more than half a century after the original model made its mark. Designed with period inspiration, it captures the look, sound, and character of a loved vintage instrument.
The body is crafted from two pieces of select alder and finished in Deluxe Closet Classic nitrocellulose lacquer, available in Three-Colour Sunburst, Aged Vintage White, Aged Blue Ice Metallic, and Aged Teal Green Metallic. This subtle ageing process creates the impression of a guitar that's been cherished and carefully maintained for decades. Gentle checking in the lacquer, oxidised hardware, and lightly faded plastics contribute to the authentic vintage aura.
Its flat-sawn maple neck is carved to a late-'60s "U" profile for a slightly fuller grip, paired with a round-lam maple fingerboard featuring a 9.5″ radius, 21 narrow tall (6105) frets, a bone nut, and a period-correct polyurethane finish. For tone, three Custom Shop hand-wound '69 Underwound Strat® pickups provide shimmering clarity and responsive dynamics, wired with era-specific '68–'69 Stratocaster circuitry and a modern five-way switch for flexibility.
Additional features include a three-ply parchment pickguard, vintage-style synchronised tremolo, Schaller "F" tuners, and a wing string tree with nylon spacer. Each instrument ships with a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.
