Gibson Custom returns the 1959 ES-330 Reissue to its Historic lineup after an eight-year absence, delivering one of the most resonant thinline hollowbodies ever made. This Vintage Natural example features a fully hollow three-ply maple/poplar/maple body with no centre block, unlike the ES-335. That construction gives the ES-330 dramatically greater acoustic volume and a lively, open response that made it a favourite among 1960s players and remains unmatched for couch playing and responsive clean tones. The one-piece mahogany neck carries an Authentic 1959 C-profile and joins the body at the 16th fret, optimising bridge placement exactly as the originals did. A bound rosewood fretboard holds 22 medium jumbo frets with simple dot inlays. Two P-90 pickups with black Dogear covers deliver the classic sound: the bridge pickup uses standard windings with an Alnico 3 magnet, while the neck pickup is underwound with an Alnico 5 for balanced output. Hand-wired electronics include CTS potentiometers, paper-in-oil tone capacitors, and Switchcraft switching. Nickel hardware includes a Historic no-wire ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe tuners. The fully hollow construction naturally invites feedback at high gain or extreme volume, but controlled overdrive and proper muting technique unlock singing sustain that semi-hollow and solidbody guitars cannot replicate. The ES-330 thrives across Americana, blues, 1960s pop, country, jazz, and rock styles where dynamic response and acoustic resonance matter. VOS hardware finishing and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer give this reissue the mellowed appearance of a forgotten vintage find. A Lifton hardshell case protects the guitar during storage and transport.
