Gibson 1962 ES-330 Reissue

Gibson Custom returns the 1962 ES-330 to its Historic Reissue lineup after an eight-year absence. This fully hollow thinline electric distinguishes itself from the semi-hollow ES-335 by omitting the maple centreblock entirely, resulting in dramatically greater acoustic volume and resonance when played unplugged. The three-ply maple/poplar/maple body construction delivers the lively, open response that made the ES-330 a favourite among blues, jazz, and rock players throughout the 1960s. It ships with a Lifton hardshell case. The one-piece mahogany neck features a SlimTaper 60s C profile - noticeably thinner than the 1959 original - with a bound rosewood fingerboard carrying 22 medium jumbo frets and cellulose small-block inlays. Dual P-90 pickups with black Dogear covers provide the firepower: the bridge unit uses standard windings with an Alnico 3 magnet, while the neck pickup is underwound and fitted with an Alnico 5 for tonal balance. Hand-wired electronics include CTS potentiometers, paper-in-oil tone capacitors, and a Switchcraft three-way toggle. The neck joins at the 16th fret, mirroring the 1962 specification precisely. Nickel hardware includes a Historic no-wire ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe tuners. The nylon nut, multi-ply pickguard, and black Top Hat knobs with silver inserts complete the period-correct appointment. VOS finishing on the hardware and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer replicate the appearance of an untouched vintage instrument. While feedback becomes a factor at extreme gain levels due to the fully hollow construction, controlled overdrive and blues tones sit naturally within this guitar's range, making it equally at home in Americana, country, and 60s pop applications.
