The Gibson Hummingbird Left-Hand Elegant Koa delivers the iconic square-shoulder dreadnought design in a left-handed configuration with premium koa back and sides paired to a AAA Sitka spruce top. Koa offers bright, articulate tone that develops additional warmth with regular play, sharing maple's top-end clarity while evolving into a balanced, lively voice with sparkling highs. The distinctive tortoise-shell pickguard features traditional Hummingbird artwork-flowers, butterfly, and hummingbird-enhanced with gold and silver-foil accents that shift and shimmer under changing light. The mahogany neck is shaped to a comfortable Round profile with a bound rosewood fretboard hosting 20 frets and abalone split parallelogram inlays, complemented by a TUSQ nut and gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners. A three-rope marquetry strip accents the centre of the koa back, while the rosewood belly-up bridge features abalone dot inlays, TUSQ saddle, and bridge pins. L.R. Baggs VTC electronics include an under-saddle Element pickup and internal preamp with volume and tone controls positioned discreetly at the soundhole's edge. Scale length measures 628.7mm. First introduced in 1960 as Gibson's original square-shoulder dreadnought, the Hummingbird became a staple across musical styles for its powerful voice and expressive range. This left-handed Elegant Koa edition maintains that legacy while adding the visual character and evolving tonal depth of premium koa. The model ships from the factory with L.R. Baggs electronics installed and includes a Gibson Custom hardshell case for transport and storage protection.
