The Gibson Hummingbird Special represents a milestone in acoustic guitar design. Introduced in 1960 and handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, the Hummingbird remains one of the most recognisable instruments ever made. This iteration delivers authentic Hummingbird character–solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top braced with traditional scalloped X-bracing–at a genuinely accessible price point. The satin ebony finish strikes a professional appearance without the gloss-maintenance overhead.

The concert-depth body sits slightly thinner than the Hummingbird Standard, yielding a tighter bass response and improved ergonomics without sacrificing tonal balance. Construction centres on a utile neck joined via compound dovetail and hot hide glue, paired with a comfortable round profile and rosewood fretboard carrying pearloid parallelogram inlays across 20 frets. The 628.65 mm scale, 43.815 mm nut width, traditional belly-up rosewood bridge, and Grover® Rotomatic™ tuners handle tuning stability reliably. An L.R. Baggs® Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup with soundhole-mounted volume control enables immediate stage and studio deployment.

The included premium soft-shell case provides dependable protection for touring or regular transport. Satin nitrocellulose lacquer construction resists fingerprints better than high-gloss alternatives, making it practical for working players. The simplified Hummingbird pickguard graphic maintains visual identity without unnecessary ornamentation.
