The MPC Key 37 G2 is a standalone keyboard synthesizer that combines Akai's legendary MPC workflow with a 37-key semi-weighted keyboard and an 8-core processor. No computer required. The machine runs independently, housing a complete production environment with classic MPC pads, extensive synthesis engines, and multitrack sequencing in a single unit. The keybed is velocity-sensitive and aftertouch-enabled, bridging the gap between beat-making and melodic composition. An 8-core processor drives the internal sound engine, handling plugin instruments, effects, and sample playback simultaneously without latency. The unit includes 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads, assignable Q-Link controls, and a colour touchscreen for navigation. Onboard synthesis includes virtual analogue, FM, wavetable, and sample-based engines. Connectivity spans MIDI In/Out, USB-C, four assignable CV outputs, stereo line outputs on quarter-inch jacks, and headphone monitoring. Internal storage supports SD card expansion for sample libraries and project files. The G2 revision adds expanded RAM and processing headroom compared to the original Key 37, enabling larger arrangements and more concurrent plugin instances. The CV outputs allow integration with modular and vintage analogue gear, sending pitch, gate, and modulation signals. The standalone architecture means the unit functions as both a studio centrepiece and a stage instrument, storing sessions internally and recalling them without a laptop. Battery power operation is supported via optional DC input for mobile recording and live use.
