SFP transceiver slots replace fixed optical connectors on this expansion card, allowing the WING console to integrate directly into existing MADI infrastructure without media converters or cable replacement. The Behringer WING MADI card ships with a 1310 nm duplex LC transceiver ready for immediate connection to standard MADI equipment, while the open SFP architecture accommodates single-mode or multi-mode modules to match whatever fibre plant is already installed. Two SFP cages plus coaxial BNC provide redundant connection topologies-either fibre-to-fibre across both SFPs, or primary fibre with BNC backup. 64 channels of 24-bit audio at 48 kHz travel bidirectionally with full redundancy across both paths, switching automatically to the backup link if the primary connection fails. The included multimode transceiver covers up to 2 km over 62.5/125 µm fibre, while the BNC coaxial port handles runs up to 100 m on 75-ohm cable. Single-mode SFP modules extend the reach beyond 2 km without replacing the card itself. Channel capacity and latency characteristics meet the AES10 standard published in 1991, maintaining compatibility with broadcast equipment, stage boxes, recorders and format converters across professional production environments. Broadcast facilities gain immediate integration into standardised fibre plants by selecting the appropriate SFP module for existing runs, eliminating adapters from the signal path. Houses of worship with mixed cable infrastructure-multimode fibre from one contractor, coaxial copper from another era-can match each MADI connection to the physical cabling actually installed between buildings or overflow spaces. The dual-path redundancy runs most securely when primary and backup connections follow physically separate routes between endpoints, maintaining programme continuity if either cable is damaged or disconnected.
