Teenage Engineering's strangest sampler gets a proper mixing partner in this pairing. The EP-1320 Medieval brings hundreds of live-recorded medieval sounds, from hurdy gurdy to bagpipes to battle drums, into a hands-on sequencing workflow, and the K.O.-Sidekick mixer gives that library somewhere to go: mixing, effects and recording, all in one connected unit.
Inside the Medieval sits 128 MB of storage split between 96 MB of hardwired medieval instruments and 32 MB for user samples, playable across twelve pressure-sensitive pads with a keys-mode arpeggiator for melodic runs. Seven themed send effects and a master compressor shape the sequences before they reach the mixer stage.
The Sidekick takes over from there with per-channel EQ in DJ or studio voicings, individual compression and six Knock-Out performance effects, plus a USB audio interface recording at 48 kHz, 24-bit. Side connector points join the Medieval and the Sidekick into a single desktop instrument, with the mixer able to route effects back through the aux for live remixing on the fly.
