The UA Apollo E1X is a high-quality, single-channel Unison™ preamp designed for seamless integration into Dante networked audio environments. It features Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support, so it can receive power directly through the network cable, eliminating the need for a separate power source. This makes the Apollo E1X an efficient and convenient choice for audio professionals, providing easy connectivity and flexibility in both studio and live sound setups.

The Apollo E1X is equipped with a combo mic/line input jack that accepts both XLR microphone connectors and ¼" TRS line connectors. The preamp intelligently auto-detects the type of connection and configures itself accordingly. This means whether you plug in a microphone or a line-level source, the Apollo E1X will automatically select the appropriate input mode and impedance, ensuring optimal signal processing without any manual input switching. This plug-and-play simplicity is ideal for fast-paced studio work and live setups.

Designed as an expansion unit, the Apollo E1X extends the capabilities of a Universal Audio Apollo x16D Thunderbolt audio interface. By adding E1X preamps over a Dante network, users can increase their available mic preamp channels without needing additional analog connections. The Apollo x16D can integrate up to 16 E1X preamp units via Dante (subject to DSP resource availability), essentially turning the Apollo x16D into a scalable multi-channel recording solution.

For larger tracking sessions, the Apollo E1X provides a highly scalable solution. You can link up to 16 Apollo E1X units to a single Apollo x16D interface over Dante. This means an Apollo x16D, which itself has 16 analog inputs, can be expanded with 16 more high-quality preamp channels via Dante — totaling 32 inputs — all manageable through the Apollo’s Console software.
