Universal Audio Volt 4 Gen 2 12-In/14-Out Audio Interface w/ 2 Preamps & 2 Line Inputs

Universal Audio's Volt 4 Gen 2 brings 32-bit/192kHz audio conversion and 12-in/6-out connectivity to a compact USB interface built by the same team behind the Apollo series. Two Tone Shaping Preamps offer Warmth, Focus, and Shine modes that add tube, solid-state, and British Class-A inspired character directly at the source, allowing musicians and producers to shape tone before it hits the DAW. The full-colour Smart Display provides real-time visual feedback of levels and routing, while Auto-Gain and Clip Protection features automatically optimise input levels to prevent distortion during tracking sessions. Connectivity extends beyond the dual mic/line and two front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs through ADAT optical expansion, adding up to eight additional digital input channels when paired with an external preamp or converter. MIDI In and Out ports accommodate keyboards, controllers, and drum machines, while a built-in USB hub powers compatible MIDI controllers and connects peripherals. The interface runs bus-powered on Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone, with built-in loopback functionality for livestreaming and podcasting applications. USB operation eliminates the need for external power supplies during mobile recording. The included software bundle delivers over 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments alongside the LUNA Digital Audio Workstation, Melodyne Essential, Plugin Alliance processors, and UJAM virtual instruments. This gives users a complete recording and mixing environment straight out of the box, from tracked audio through final master. The interface operates at sample rates up to 192kHz across all six outputs, maintaining professional conversion quality whether tracking vocals, recording direct guitar, or capturing digital sources through the optical input.
