The Behringer Meatball is an envelope filter pedal built on analog circuitry that responds dynamically to your playing dynamics. Rather than fixed filtering, the pedal listens to how hard you attack the strings and adjusts its sweep accordingly–delivering the classic funky wah and quack-like tones synonymous with envelope-filtered bass and guitar. Behringer's rugged construction withstands touring demands, whilst true bypass preserves signal integrity when disengaged.
The control layout centres on six rotary knobs: Sensitivity calibrates the filter's responsiveness to your instrument and playing style, whilst Attack and Decay shape the envelope's envelope response. A dedicated Colour knob modifies resonance peak for tonal sculpting, and the Blend control mixes dry and filtered signals. Four rotary switches govern bandwidth (off, full, or half), filter sweep direction (up or down), filter mode (lo or hi), and filter range (high-pass, band-pass, or low-pass). Two expression pedal inputs accept 0–5 V control voltage, whilst the FX loop (1/4” TRS) allows serial integration into larger pedalboards. Standard 9 V DC powering (400 mA, included) drives 0.7 W consumption across dimensions of 200.1 x 148.5 mm.
Frequency response spans 20 Hz to 20 kHz with dynamic range exceeding 93 dB and signal-to-noise ratio above 99 dB, ensuring transparent operation across bass, guitar, and other instruments. The pedal accepts unbalanced 1/4” TS input (1 MΩ impedance) and delivers 1.5 kΩ output impedance, making it compatible with standard instrument chains and mixing setups.
