The 5150® Series DX reimagines an iconic design with a perfect blend of classic throwback aesthetics and contemporary performance features. Built on a modified Strat®‐style basswood body with a deeper upper body curve, this guitar features a graphite‐reinforced bolt‐on quartersawn baked maple neck with a comfortable modified "C" profile and hand‐rubbed satin urethane back finish. The 12"‐16" compound radius baked maple fingerboard hosts 22 jumbo frets with black dot inlays, while the distinctive "hockey stick" headstock bears the EVH® logo decal.
Unlike the original single‐pickup striped model, the all‐new 5150 DX comes equipped with an HH pickup configuration featuring custom‐designed EVH® Wolfgang® Alnico 2 humbuckers in both bridge and neck positions. The bridge pickup offers punch and articulation with sweet sustain and thick chunky rhythms in a perfectly balanced EQ curve, while the neck pickup serves up powerful overdrive and endless sustain without sacrificing articulate cleans when rolled back. A three‐way toggle switch on the upper bout controls pickup selection, complemented by a custom low friction volume knob for smooth volume swells and a high friction tone knob that stays put. The lower bout kill switch adds a new dimension, allowing you to mute your guitar for stutter and rhythmic effects.
The EVH‐branded top‐mount Floyd Rose® locking tremolo system is certified for "dive‐bomb" action, featuring fine tuners for each string and the patented EVH D‐Tuna® for instant switching between drop‐D and standard tuning. Chrome hardware, EVH®‐branded Gotoh® tuning machines, and a Floyd Rose® R3 locking nut complete the package. Available in Pacific Drift and Limeade Zest finishes with quilted maple tops, each guitar includes an EVH® Striped Series gig bag and comes strung with EVH® nickel plated steel strings (.009‐.042 gauges).
