The Fender Custom Shop 1962 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in Aged Sonic Blue recreates the worn-in character of a golden-era instrument with painstaking attention to period-correct appointments. Built around a two-piece alder body finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, this heavily reliced guitar features a quarter-sawn maple neck with a 1960 Oval C profile measuring .790" at the first fret and .930" at the twelfth. Hand-wound '60/'63 Strat pickups deliver vintage-voiced output through a five-position selector with Vintage Modern Wiring #2 configuration. The 25.5" scale neck hosts a 9mm AAA rosewood slab fingerboard with a 9.5" radius and narrow tall 6105 frets, topped with a bone nut cut to 1.650" width. Micarta white dot inlays and a period-accurate 1961-63 headstock with two patent number decals complete the vintage aesthetic. The middle pickup is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum-cancelling operation in positions two and four. American Vintage Strat bridge hardware, vintage tuners with Fender logos, and nickel/chrome hardware all carry factory ageing to match the heavily distressed finish. Weight registers at 8lbs 1oz, and the guitar ships in a Fender Custom Shop brown hardshell case.
