The one-piece mahogany body features nine-hole weight relief paired with a two-piece plain maple top, wrapped in multi-ply binding front and back. Gold hardware, block inlays, and an ebony fretboard continue the Custom's refined aesthetic, now spanning 22 medium jumbo frets across the extended scale. The mahogany neck is carved to a Modern Medium C profile with a 12" radius ebony fretboard and long neck tenon for enhanced sustain. Gibson's calibrated 490R humbucker at the neck and 498T at the bridge come with gold covers, hand-wired to CTS potentiometers and Switchcraft components—a three-way toggle and quarter-inch output jack.
