Gibson's Songwriter Recording Artist EC is a cutaway dreadnought engineered for tracking and touring. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this model inherits the tonal DNA of Gibson's 1930s Advanced Jumbo via a scalloped Advanced X–braced Sitka spruce top, 25.5” scale length, and period–appropriate tonewood pairing of rosewood back and sides. The cutaway body design shifts the practical balance toward players who demand upper–fret access without sacrificing acoustic projection.

Construction centres on a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with mahogany neck and Round profile, bound ebony fretboard with 20 frets, and compound dovetail joinery reinforced with hot hide glue for tonal coherence. The L.R. Baggs™ HiFi system uses dual bridge plate sensors and internal preamp to capture string dynamics and note definition with minimal feedback. Soundhole–mounted tone and volume controls remain player–accessible yet visually discreet on stage. Hardware includes bone nut, Grover® open–back tuners, ebony bridge with bone saddle, and TUSQ® bridge pins; the bound headstock features mother–of–pearl Gibson Crown inlay.

The pairing of acoustic design and pro–grade electronics makes this guitar equally suited to studio recording sessions and live amplified performance. Tortoishell pickguard and wide abalone rosette protect the top while reinforcing visual character.
