Pioneering Techno-thrash turned modern progressive metal masters Meshuggah have been at the forefront of impactful, percussive guitar sounds for more than 3 decades. With their genre-defining record "Nothing" they began experimenting with 7-string guitars tuned an octave down, but the 25.5" scale on a typically Ibanez RG7620 proved difficult. THe album was subsequently re-recorded with 8 string guitars custom built, and the rest is modern metal history!

Twenty years later and 7/8/9 string guitars are commonplace, and the world is opened to experimentation. Ibanez have collaborated with Fredrik Thordendal on this exceptional instrument in a way that only they can!

Neck-through construction provides massive sustain and playing comfort, while the 27" scale allows the lower tuned strings to intonate without sacrificing playability or making the instrument overlong. It's just as comfortable on leads as it is on Drop Z palm mutes.
