Akai's MPK Mini mk4 is a 25-key MIDI controller designed to spark ideas without eating up studio real estate. Built on a refreshed keybed with mechanical pitch and mod wheels, it's compact enough to travel yet controls everything from bedroom productions to live rigs. The included Studio Instrument Collection delivers over 1,000 studio-grade sounds from AIR, Akai, and Moog, meaning you can sketch a track from nothing straight out of the box. Eight velocity- and pressure-sensitive RGB pads, eight assignable 360% rotary encoders, and a full-colour screen keep hands-on control central to the workflow. USB-C powers the unit and connects to major DAWs-Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio-with 1-to-1 mapping so parameter control requires no setup. A full-size MIDI output jack lets you tether vintage gear, while Scale and Chord modes lock the keybed to key and harmony, transforming single finger presses into full progressions. The supercharged arpeggiator runs seven play modes with Freeze, Mutate, and stepped dynamics, letting sequences evolve rather than simply loop. Ableton Live Lite 12 ships included, alongside a 30-day Melodics trial and two months of Splice access. Native Instruments integration opens 2,500+ pre-mapped instruments and effects via NKS protocol, so adding sounds involves choosing, not programming. At 2.31 kilograms and 13.68 inches wide, it fits into a backpack or sits comfortably on any desk.
