Behringer's JT-2 is a Eurorack synthesiser that distils the circuitry and sound design philosophy of the Roland Jupiter-8 into an affordable, compact format. Rather than a straight emulation, it captures the paraphonic and polyphonic DNA of that legendary instrument-lush, resonant, and built for serious patch work. The dual VCO architecture forms the core, delivering oscillator sync, frequency modulation, and cross-modulation between voices for the complex tonal palette the original made famous. The switchable 12/24 dB resonant lowpass filter is the tonal centrepiece, toggling between soft, glassy character and punchy, aggressive response. A complementary highpass filter provides frequency range unavailable on the Jupiter-8, offering fine control over the high end. Two ADSR envelopes with key-follow modulation serve the VCOs, voltage-controlled filter, and VCA; an LFO with sine, sawtooth, square, and random waveforms drives expressive movement. Paraphonic mode enables two-note performances, whilst the 16-voice Poly Chain function links multiple units for full polyphony across four octaves via the four-pattern arpeggiator. Connectivity includes full MIDI implementation and external CV/gate control, enabling integration into larger modular systems or DAW-based setups. The Eurorack-standard layout positions patch points logically for intuitive signal routing, whether building classic Jupiter-style lead sequences or exploring oscillator modulation deep-dives. This represents a substantially equipped analogue synthesiser at a price point that sidesteps the six-figure investment of vintage hardware.
