Designed for hands-free vocal capture in presentation, broadcast and live performance settings, this headworn condenser microphone from Sennheiser delivers cardioid directionality with a frequency response spanning 40 to 20,000 Hz. The HSP 4 uses a pre-polarised condenser capsule with a 1,000 Ω nominal impedance and requires a minimum terminating impedance of 4,700 Ω, making it compatible with wireless bodypack transmitters via its included 1.6-metre connection cable. The neckband design keeps the microphone positioned consistently near the mouth without the weight or visibility of larger headset designs. The cardioid pickup pattern rejects off-axis sound, focusing capture on the voice while minimising bleed from monitors, ambient noise and other sources. An equivalent noise level of 37 dB(A) maintains low self-noise during speech and vocal applications. The package includes five clips for securing the microphone boom, a silicone tube for cable management, an MZW 4 windscreen, two caps for altering frequency response, and a foam-lined hard case for transport. Additional connection cables are available separately for different wireless systems, including 3-pin and mini-TRS configurations.
