The Electro Voice ZLX-12BT is a 12” active loudspeaker with Bluetooth connectivity and modern additions. Modern digital power amplifiers have several advantages: Class-D amplifiers have a significantly higher efficiency than Class-B designs. In some cases it is more than 90%. Since less power is lost than heat, cooling and the mains transformer can be smaller, which means significant weight savings. This makes it possible for the Electro Voice ZLX-12P to deliver a peak output of up to 1000W at a weight of only 15.6kg, while the continuous output is a full 250W. This results in a sound pressure level of 126dB at peak times and 95dB in continuous operation.

A 12" woofer and a 1.5" tweeter compression driver with titanium cone are used, which is coupled to the room by a directivity horn with a dispersion angle of 60° in the vertical and 90° in the horizontal. In order to minimise differences in the running time, the woofer is slightly offset from the tweeter horn inside the cabinet so that the voice coils of both drivers are in the same plane. The case itself is made of durable plastic and has a robust steel front. It offers 3x handles to facilitate transport and, above all, mounting on speaker stands. A special mounting bracket is available for wall mounting.

The on-board DSP of the ZLX-12P-BT offers various parameters for adapting the loudspeaker to the spatial and technical conditions. The modes Music (default), Live, Speech and Club offer pre-sets for bass and treble adjustment for the application. The location parameters Pole (default), Monitor and Bracket optimise the frequency response for use on stands as floor monitors or in wall mounting. Bass and Treble allow an increase of +/- 10dB. Finally, the Sub menu provides access to the parameters for subwoofer operation.
